As of this morning at 8:42 Miller will have been out of the womb for 5 weeks. Things have been improving. I have to be honest, the first 3 weeks really sucked. Actually the last month of pregnancy in combination of the first 3 weeks of non-pregnancy really sucked. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a one sided affair, they sucked for Erin as well. Times they are a changin though. I think we can honestly say we like each other again, I don't have to worry about Erin scratching my eyeballs out or removing my testicles with a shotgun, and Erin doesn't have to worry about me flying her to Antarctica and leaving her there. The whole magic of childbirth and the ensuing joy in the weeks that follow are grossly overexagerated. That being said...
Starting in week four, we were both getting used to surviving off of 3 hours of sleep at a time(sometimes 4 if we were lucky), Miller decided that maybe 12011 wasn't that bad of a place to hang out, I qualified for the Olympics in the diaper changing event, and believe it or not, I think he cracked a non-gas related smile at me yesterday. My folks came down for a week and helped out, allowing both Erin and I to get out of the house on a couple of occasions, and they did more than their fair share of holding the baby, allowing us to get some work done in the house, and allowing us to prepare for the 4th of July bash. The 4th went well(except for the damned rain that pelted me the entire time I was cooking) and everyone had a good time. Special thanks to those of you that helped clean the house and the yard after the party, it made both of our lives easier the next day. I think we are done entertaining for a while now, so its back to our boring old lives.
In an unrelated note, I have rediscovered Iron Maiden. I was never much of a fan back in the day. I always thought that Bruce Dickinson sang like a butch lesbian, and I just couldn't get around the sound of his wailing. With my advanced age and appreciation of all things metal, I find that the wailing(although grating at times) complements the music nicely, and that they have some quite excellent tunes. I can only hope that Erin will buy my a nice stonewashed sleeveless jean jacket that has a Iron Maiden back patch on it from the Powerslave era.
That is all. Good day.

Jeepers, your sentimental post has me crying. Things must be closer to normal. ;)
Miller just wailed through a whole pumping session and I barely pleaded with him to stop. I must be getting better at being a mom and ignoring my child.
Well, I never bought the "magic of childbirth" so you haven't disillusioned me yet, but I'm glad things are improving for all 3 of you.
I'm wondering about your amatuer diaper changing status as my sister-in-law (who has 3 kids under the age of 4) recently changed 27 diapers in one day...
